Crystal Speed Control for Bolex:

TCS "TXM-24"
for Bolex EL and EBM cameras,
and ESM motor

Crystal speed control at a fraction of the price of the factory unit.  We have omitted the pilot sync generator, which nobody needs these days, in order to reduce the size, cost and weight. The present circuit was designed many years ago, still works perfectly, and there is no need to change it. This reduces the fixed overhead cost. The only difference is that the case is now black instead of light grey.

Two Speeds: 24 and 25 FPS. Includes both standard sound filming speeds used

worldwide. The only control is a simple two-position slide toggle switch, with gold contacts for reliability.

Has Power Socket for EBM. A 7-pin female Tuchel socket is provided, to be used for furnishing power to the EBM camera, which does not have a separate Crystal socket. In use, the TXM-24 plugs directly into the EBM camera, and the power grip or power cable plugs into the socket on the TXM-24. Do not connect the TXM-24 between an external battery and the power grip, as the power grip is not wired for crystal. This socket is not used with the EL and ESM. No additional expensive cables are required.

Sync Alarm Light. Shows up bright red, if crystal sync is not obtained for any reason. This could be because the film is jammed, the battery is weak, or perhaps you forgot to switch the camera or motor to the SYNC or CRYS position to enable external crystal control. Other units often lack this vital feature, so all you can do is hope that the speed is correct!

The instruction manual can be previewed here.

TXM-24 crystal control is priced at $270.

We have a medium-duty 3.33 amp power supply for 100 to 240 volts AC which will drive a 16mm camera, for $79. It has industry standard XLR 12 volt connectors so a pigtail adapter will be needed to suit your Bolex.
